What we collect from sellers, buyers, clubs and trade contacts, why we need it, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to remove it. Written in plain English, not legalese.
Last updated 3 September 2026. Iron Marques Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller.
Iron Marques Ltd is the "data controller" for the personal data described on this page — the organisation responsible for deciding what's collected and why. Any question about your data, or a request to see, correct or remove it, goes to info@ironmarques.co.uk.
This notice covers the website, our contact and valuation forms, and the vetting process we run before a listing goes live. It sits alongside our Terms of Business, which covers the £45 introduction fee and what's checked before a car is listed in more detail.
What we ask for depends on how you're using Iron Marques. We only collect what we actually need to provide the service, run our checks, or respond to you.
Your name, address, and contact details (email, phone), plus the car's details and photos you submit for the listing. As part of our free vetting check, we also ask you to upload a copy of your V5C to confirm you're the registered keeper, and we check the car's MOT and DVLA record. Your address and V5C copy are used for this check only, are held only for as long as needed for that and the retention period below, and are never published or passed to a buyer. We don't publish your other contact details on the listing itself either — they're only released to a buyer once they've paid the £45 introduction fee.
Your name and contact details, and payment details when you pay the £45 introduction fee (handled by our payment provider directly — we don't store your card details ourselves). We pass your contact details to the seller once the fee's paid, so they can get in touch with you.
Your name, contact details, and the event or club details you submit for the listing (dates, venue, description, and a public contact point if you want one shown).
Your business name, contact details, and the information you give us to confirm you're a genuine, registered, insured operation (for example, a Companies House check and confirmation of public liability insurance) before you're listed.
Whatever you enter into the form — typically name, email, and your message or the vehicle details you're asking about. Our review form also asks for your county and the car involved, and a checkbox to confirm you're happy for the review to be published under your first name, last initial and county; we only publish reviews where that box has been ticked.
Under UK GDPR, we need a lawful reason for everything we do with your data. Here's what applies:
Contract — providing the introduction service you've asked for: matching a listing, releasing contact details once the fee is paid, responding to your enquiry.
Legitimate interest — running our vetting checks (V5C, MOT, DVLA, Companies House, insurance) to reduce fraud and keep listings genuine, and keeping records to resolve disputes if something goes wrong. We think this is a fair and proportionate use of the minimum data needed — you can ask us more about it, or object, at any time.
Consent — publishing a review under your name and location. You can withdraw this at any time and we'll take the review down.
We keep personal data connected to a listing or introduction for 6 years, in line with our Terms of Business — long enough to cover the legal time limit for most disputes arising from a sale. If you contact us with a general enquiry that doesn't lead to a listing, we keep it only as long as needed to deal with it, then delete it. You can ask us to remove your data sooner — see below.
Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to:
Show you the personal data we hold about you; correct it if it's wrong; delete it; restrict how we use it, or object to us using it; and receive a copy in a portable format.
Some of these have limits — for example, we may need to keep certain records for the 6-year period above even after a removal request, if we're legally required to (such as for accounting or dispute-resolution purposes). If that applies, we'll tell you why.
Email info@ironmarques.co.uk with "Data removal request" in the subject line, and tell us what you'd like removed (for example, a specific listing, a review, or all the data we hold on you). We'll confirm receipt and respond within one month, as required by law — sooner where we can.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first, though — get in touch and we'll do our best.
This site doesn't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and doesn't track you across other sites. Our hosting provider may log basic technical data (like IP address) for security purposes, as is standard for any website — we don't use this to identify individual visitors.
We'll update this page if what we collect or how we use it changes, and update the date at the top. This is a new business and an interim notice, written in plain English rather than by a solicitor — if anything here is unclear, ask us directly and we'll explain or fix it.
