FAQs
If you're new to Iron Marques — or new to American cars in the UK altogether — these should cover most of it. Can't find what you're after? Get in touch and we'll answer it directly, and probably add it here too.
A UK hub for American car owners and enthusiasts — a marketplace for buying and selling, a directory of specialists who work on these cars, and an events calendar for shows, cruises and cars & coffee meets, all in one place instead of scattered across Facebook groups and forums.
No. We're an introducer — we never buy, stock, own or take possession of a vehicle, and we're not a party to any sale. We put buyers and sellers in touch and step back; what happens next is between the two of you.
Yes — we're genuinely early days, built by someone who's spent two decades in the automotive trade and the last eighteen months specifically in the American car market. Some content you'll see on the site right now is sample data while we build up real listings — it's always labelled as such.
Yes — no listing fee, and no commission on your sale price. Buyers pay a flat £45 to be introduced to you; you keep the rest. See the Marketplace page for the full walkthrough.
Not on this introduction route — that's the model today, and it's on the roadmap to stay that way until our bespoke brokerage service goes live. Brokerage will be a separate, paid option for anyone who'd rather we handled the whole sale for them; it won't replace the free introduction route.
We check the MOT and DVLA record, and ask to see the V5C to confirm you're the registered keeper. It's a genuine check, not a guarantee — buyers are always advised to inspect in person and satisfy themselves before paying anything.
Of course — it's your car. If a buyer finds your listing through Iron Marques, though, the introduction fee applies to that introduction regardless of where the conversation continues from there. If you're happy to list with us only while we're still building the marketplace up, it genuinely helps — but that's entirely your call, not a condition of listing. Right now we'd always rather have your car live with us than not at all.
Direct contact details for the seller of a car you're serious about — one flat fee, regardless of the car's value, and nothing further to pay us after that. Full detail on the Marketplace page.
It's a genuine starting-point estimate, not an exact figure — no two cars in this niche are quite alike, and a car's real value is ultimately whatever a buyer's willing to pay. Try it on the Valuation page, which explains the reasoning in full.
Click "Pay the £45 introduction fee" on the Marketplace page and you'll go straight to a secure card checkout, handled by Stripe. Let us know which car you're paying for — either as a note at checkout, or by emailing us at info@ironmarques.co.uk — and we'll introduce you to the seller as soon as it's through.
Not directly, not yet. Importing is a genuinely specialist process — shipping, customs, IVA, registration and compliance all vary depending on the vehicle and its age — and it's something we'd like Iron Marques to offer properly in future, once that process is fully understood and can be done right rather than guessed at.
For now, the best move is to go straight to a specialist who does this every day: search the Import & Shipping category in our specialist directory and contact them directly — they can talk you through the real costs and process far better than a general guide could.
If you list a car, business, club or event with us now, while Iron Marques is genuinely new, you're a founding member of the community — one of the people who helped build this from the ground up, before there was much reason to.
Yes — the free listing tier isn't going anywhere. As things grow we may add optional paid extras, like featured placement, but a free listing in the directory or events calendar stays free.
We don't use the word "verified" — it implies a standard we haven't published yet. What we do today: check MOT and DVLA records and the V5C for sellers before a car goes live, and ask directory businesses to confirm they're a genuine, registered, insured operation. That's a real check, not an inspection or a guarantee — always do your own homework too.
Iron Marques is an introducer only — we're not party to the sale, don't hold any money, and can't act as an escrow or mediator. Treat buying a car the way you would from any private seller: inspect it in person, verify the paperwork, and use a bank transfer or other traceable payment method rather than cash for anything of real value.
See our Privacy & data notice for the full detail — what we collect from sellers, buyers, clubs and trade contacts, why, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to remove it.
